Cambrian Coal Auction Set

Pike County, KY — Cambrian Coal LLC has filed plans to put its assets up for bid in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for Eastern District of Kentucky. If a judge approves the plan, the company will auction off its assets with September 11 as the bid deadline, the auction would be held September 18th and a sale hearing on September 24th. Cambrian Coal filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection at the end of June with Cambrian CEO Jim Booth resigning about two weeks before the bankruptcy filing. Cambrian coal has about 700 employees at mines in Eastern Kentucky and in Virginia. There are several mining entities that operate under the company which include Cambrian Coal, Apex Energy, C.W. Augering, Clintwood Elkhorn Mining, Premier Elkhorn Coal, Whitaker Coal, Raven Rock Development, S.T.&T. Leasing among others.
