Free COVID-19 testing opportunities available in Wise County throughout month

WISE COUNTY, Va. — New COVID-19 testing opportunities will be available in Wise County throughout the month of July.

According to the Lenowisco Health District, the Virginia Department of Health is making free COVID-19 testing available at Wise County’s two Food City locations in Wise and Coeburn on a rotating schedule beginning July 8. Testing will be conducted for three hours each testing day.

According to the health district, COVID-19 testing will be available at the Wise Food City store on July 8, July 15, July 22 and July 29. Testing will be conducted at the Coeburn Food City store on July 10, July 17, July 24 and July 31. Testing will be conducted from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. each of those days.

The health district says no appointment is necessary for testing, but in order to avoid lines, calling ahead and making an appointment is advised. Those seeking testing may call (276) 328-8000 to make an appointment if they so choose.

Walk-up testing is also available at the listed locations, but those patients must wear a mask and maintain social distancing. Visit the Lenowisco Health District Facebook page for more information and for testing sites in other Virginia counties.
