Coeburn man indicted in federal drug case

BIG STONE GAP, Va. — A Wise County man faces a potential life sentence, after being indicted on drug and gun charges in federal court.

Rodney Allen Pickett, 50, of Coeburn, is charged with conspiracy, four counts of distributing meth, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, and possessing a machine gun.

Court records accuse Pickett of working with others to distribute meth in Wise and Lee counties for more than a year.

Trial has been set for July 18. He is currently being held in the regional jail in Abingdon.
