PRESTONSBURG, KY.– As temperatures have dropped well below freezing this week we have all had to bundle up before going outside.
However, there are some that don’t have that option and a few concerned folks in Floyd County have partnered with a local business to help those in need.
A coat rack has been placed outside of The Mountain Muse in downtown Prestonsburg with a sign that reads, “FREE COATS. Need a coat, take a coat. Have a coat, leave a coat.” And that is exactly what has been happening in the little more than 24-hours that the rack has been in place.
“It has fluctuated all day. Last night we had quite a bit on the rack and some would disappear and some would reappear, then this morning blankets showed up and all the hangers were full. Now we’re back down to a few hangers. I would love to see more people donate. Apparently blankets are in need, gloves, scarfs…it’s really cold out.”
Owens went on to say that the rack will remain outside all throughout the night as well. If you would like to donate to the rack The Mountain Muse is located at 128 Front Street in Prestonsburg just down from Billy Rays Restaurant and Mountain Comprehensive Care Center.
