Congressman Hal Rogers is questioning American Electric Power about why residents of his district are paying such high electric bills.
Rogers sent a letter to AEP President Nick Akins, asking why residents of the Fifth District are receiving power bills as much as 200 percent more than they were paying in the fall. He also questioned the number and amount of additional fees not tied to power usage. He says that the creating a hardship in the nation’s second poorest congressional district, with many residents looking at having to forego necessities to keep their lights on. Rogers requested a response from the company within 30 days.
