Man who fell in river found alive

HAZARD, Ky. — A man reported missing last night in Perry County and feared to have fallen in the river has been located and is alive.

Hazard Police report that the man is being treated by the Perry County Ambulance Service.

According to Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife officers on scene, their agency worked with Hazard Police Department and Perry County Emergency Management to locate the man, who was reported missing late last night.

Officers focused their search along the North Fork of the Kentucky River, in downtown Hazard, where the man was reportedly fishing.

Officials say the man fell in the water at some point overnight and climbed out on the opposite bank and fell asleep. He was located shortly before 11 a.m.

Officials say he is in relatively good condition considering what he went through. He will be checked at Hazard ARH as a precaution.

No charges will be filed.
