SALYERSVILLE, Ky. — A roadblock on the Mountain Parkway in Magoffin County ended up capturing a Bourbon County couple for fentanyl trafficking.

State troopers and Magoffin County sheriff’s deputies were staging the roadblock Thursday night just before midnight, when a U-Haul truck driven by Aaron Davis, 30, of Paris, approached, saying he was on his way to Pike County to buy a Jon boat.

Officers noticed Davis to have glassy, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech, so they asked him and his passenger, Tekenesha Hopkins-Davis, 33, to step out of the truck. When they did, police found a bag containing 55 grams of fentanyl in the truck.

Both occupants were also found to be wanted on outstanding warrants.

Both were arrested on charges of fentanyl trafficking and booked in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville.
