Wise County, VA — The Wise County Sheriff’s Office has announced the retirement of one of their Deputies…K9 Dixie. K9 Dixie had been with the department for 8 years, the last 5 years with her handler Sgt. Garth Nicely. During K9 Dixie’s career, she’s been awarded multiple lifesaving awards, tracked down both lost and wanted subjects and received commendations from numerous agencies. K9 Dixie achieved multiple certificates from agencies like the North American Police Work Dog Association, Virginia Police Work Dog Association, National Police Bloodhound Association and others. K9 Dixie will spend her retirement in her forever home with Sgt. Nicely.
