SALYERSVILLE, Ky. — A Magoffin County man’s failure to appear in court for a speeding ticket eventually resulted in his arrest on drug trafficking charges.

Deputies went to the home of Frankie Dyer, 58, to serve him with a bench warrant, after he failed to show up in court to answer a ticket for speeding and reckless driving. He wasn’t at home when deputies arrived, but the officers noticed six marijuana plants growing outside of his house.

Dyer’s mother gave deputies permission to come inside to confirm he wasn’t at home. Inside the house and Dyer’s car, officers found several containers of a white powder, along with loaded syringes.

Dyer arrived during the search and was arrested. He is now charged with drug trafficking, cultivating marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
