Asst. fire chief killed in crash

MARROWBONE, Ky. — Marrowbone Volunteer Fire Department is mourning the loss of one of its members.

Asst. Chief Clifford Brian Belcher, 47, of Elkhorn City, was killed Wednesday morning in a crash, Chief Clinard “Bubby” Adkins announced on his Facebook page.

“We have lost a great asset to our fire department and community,” Adkins said.

According to Kentucky State Police, Belcher was driving along Route 3174 at Greasy Creek just after 2 a.m., when his car left the roadway and overturned. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
