A fatal structure fire in Martin County is being investigated by Kentucky State Police.

Crews were notified Thursday morning around 10:30 of the fire with someone possibly trapped inside on Popular Fork. As the arson investigator and a detective were investigating, they found the body of an unidentified person.

The body was sent to the medical examiners office in Frankfort for an autopsy and for identification.

State police say as of now, the death appears to be accidental, but the investigation is ongoing.
