Results of hazardous materials survey in Pike County are in

PIKEVILLE, Ky. –  During the summer, we told you about a survey being done to document hazardous materials traveling through Pike County.  Students from Western Kentucky University spent several weeks watching for placards on trucks that identify what hazardous materials they are transporting.  Pike County Emergency Management Director Doug Tackett says they now have the results of that survey, and it will be a tremendous asset to our first responders.  He says knowing what dangerous materials are traveling through Pike County, and when it is happening will let local fire departments as well as his office better prepare, in case the unthinkable happens.  Tackett says he plans to also share the results with neighboring counties and their first responders, as well.
