Pike County, KY — A crash in the Johns Creek area of Pike County Sunday evening has claimed the life of a Pikeville man. According to Kentucky State Police, Post 9 Pikeville, a Trooper had responded to a disturbance call at the Willard Thompson Trailer Court and was speaking to the victim when a vehicle drove by at a high rate of speed. The trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop on KY. 194 but the vehicle refused to stop for a short period, then stopped then fled again. The vehicle reached a top speed of 60 miles per hour and the driver lost control in a curve on KY 194. The vehicle struck several trees, rolled down an embankment and caught fire. The Trooper attempted to remove the driver from the vehicle but was unable to do so due to the extreme heat. The driver, 31-year-old Dalelano Henderson of Harold’s Branch Road, Pikeville was pronounced deceased by the Pike County Coroner’s Office. The crash remains under investigation.
