Fire Danger Issued

Charleston, WV — A fire danger statement has been issued Wednesday for parts of West Virginia with dry conditions existing and gusty winds expected this afternoon. The National Weather Service in Charleston in coordination with the state Division of Forestry said the fire danger across southern and central West Virginia is high to very high.
Open burning of any type is considered extremely dangerous at this time. Caution also is advised when operating equipment for potential heat and sparks. West Virginia law prohibits burning in the spring 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 1 through May 31.
