PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — A Floyd County woman is facing a felony theft charge, after police say she repeated a shoplifting scheme multiple times.
Prestonsburg Police were called Saturday to Walmart, where store security had detained Pamela Mullins, 42, of Harold.
Security told police that Mullins had come into the store on numerous occasions, beginning Nov. 19. During the visits, she would allegedly grab something off the shelf, then take it to customer service and say she was returning it, in order to be given a gift card for the purchase price.
Store officials told police she had repeated the scheme 17 times, netting $1,600 in gift cards. The store was also able to provide video of all of the transactions, as well as receipts for the items.
Mullins is now charged with shoplifting and theft of more than $1,000. She has since been released on an unsecured bond and is scheduled to be arraigned Jan. 17.
