SALYERSVILLE, Ky. — Two cases against a former state trooper and Magoffin County teacher who had been accused of rape and sodomy with a minor have reached resolutions which will see him serve no jail time.

Anthony Taulbee, 49, of Salyersville, was indicted in 2023 on charges of first-degree sodomy and third-degree rape. Later, he was charged in Johnson County with two counts of third-degree rape and one count of third-degree sodomy, based on evidence that grew out of the Magoffin County case.
However, he was found not guilty by a jury in the Johnson County case, after a partial recording of conversation between him and a former girlfriend was ruled inadmissible.
Following his acquittal in Johnson County, he reached a plea deal in Magoffin County which saw the sodomy charge dismissed and the rape charge amended to unlawful transaction with a minor.
On Wednesday, he was given a 12-month suspended sentence and two years of unsupervised probation.
