IVEL, Ky. — An overdose led the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office and Martin City Police to arrest four people on drug trafficking charges early Wednesday morning.
Two people involved with the overdose said the drugs were sold out of room 230 at the Alpike Motel, so police went there to conduct a “knock and talk.” As they approached the room, they immediately detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside, so all of the occupants were immediately detained.
Police found what was described as a large amount of heroin in the room, along with smaller amounts of marijuana and pills.
Arrested were Jeremy Justice, 49, of Prestonsburg; Thurman Sizemore, 35, of Hazard; Austin Bowling, 28, of Kite; and Joshua Hinkins, 27, of Haddix. All four are charged with heroin trafficking, possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, and tampering with physical evidence.
