PAINTSVILLE, Ky. — A Floyd County man who reached a plea deal in a sex abuse case earlier this year has found himself in trouble once again.

Larry Martin, 59, who was living in Salyersville at the time but is now listed as a Prestonsburg resident, was charged with sexually abusing a child under the age of 12 back in 2021.

In February, he pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of unlawful transaction with a minor. He was sentenced to time served, but was required to register as a sex offender for the next 20 years.

It is that last part that has landed him behind bars once again. Martin was arrested Monday and charged with failure to comply with sex offender registration.

Court records do not indicate how he allegedly failed to comply, but a search of the sex offender registry turns up no record of him.

Martin is being held in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center, in Paintsville.
