Fireworks displays will be held in two Letcher County communities for the Independence Day holiday.
The Isom Days Festival Committee will begin its fireworks display after 9 p.m. Friday evening, July 3, at the Isom Fairgrounds. The annual truck and tractor pull which typically is held prior to the fireworks display has been cancelled, and concessions will not be served during the evening’s festivities.
On July 4, the City of Whitesburg will hold its annual fireworks display beginning at dusk. The show will be visible from the Riverside Park area. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no live entertainment during this year’s Independence Day celebration. The city says it is hopeful to have live entertainment on Labor Day.
Attendees for both events are encouraged to maintain social distancing during the fireworks displays. The City of Whitesburg says those who choose to exit their vehicles to watch the fireworks display must remain with their vehicle and not congregate with others.
