FRANKFORT, Ky. — Gov. Andy Beshear says it isn’t right to ask students and teachers to return to classrooms at the apex of the pandemic in the state.
“We are still in a very dangerous and difficult place, in terms of the virus spreading right now,” the governor said.
For that reason, Gov. Beshear is asking school districts to wait six weeks before reopening schools to in-person learning. That would keep classrooms closed until Sept. 28.
“That was the recommendation made today,” Gov. Beshear said. “Not everybody will like it. My job is to make the tough calls.”
