Governor releases guide to avoiding charity scams

FRANKFORT, Ky. — With many people wanting to do something to help respond to the coronavirus pandemic, and others feeling more generous with the holiday season around the corner, officials are warning Kentuckians to be on the lookout for scammers.

This week is International Charity Fraud Awareness Week, and Governor Andy Beshear’s office is marking the occasion by releasing a Charitable Giving Guide.

The guide offers tips on how to check out a charity to make sure it is legitimate, advice on how to find a charity that is right for you, and warning signs that you could be dealing with an imposter.
