Health department warns of COVID exposure at funeral

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — The Pike County Health Department is warning the public about a potential exposure to the coronavirus which occurred during a funeral at Rogers Funeral Home over Labor Day weekend.

The department did not identify the name of the deceased out of respect for the family. But Public Health Director Tammy Riley said visitation took place from 6 to 9 Saturday and Sunday nights, with the funeral at 1 Monday afternoon, followed by a family dinner.

Anyone who attended the visitation, funeral or dinner is asked to quarantine for 14 days and monitor for symptoms.

Riley said anyone with questions can contact the Pike County Health Department for answers.
