On Thursday, officials with the Pike County Health Department issued a statement, confirming a worker at a Pike County fast food restaurant has tested positive for Hepatitis A. Stephanie Bentley, Nursing Administrator at the Health Department said the employee works at the KFC at South Williamson. She explained that management at the restaurant has taken extra precautions and done the necessary cleaning to ensure there is no threat to the public. She further added the employee diagnosed with Hepatitis A does not have a position where he/she directly handles food, so the threat of anyone who has eaten food from the restaurant contracting Hepatitis A is very low. This is the first new case of Hepatitis A in Pike County in several weeks, and the instances of Hepatitis A across Kentucky continues to decline.
