HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Pikeville cruises in tournament opener; MC, LC girls roll in road wins

Pikeville punched its ticket to the boys’ 15th Region All A tournament semifinals with a 74-28 win over the Phelps Hornets at the Appalachian Wireless Arena on Wednesday night.

Rylee Samons led a balanced scoring attack with 12 points while Keian Worrix tossed in 10. Heath Jarrell and Lukas Manns followed with nine each. Nick Robinson and Tate Walters added eight apiece.

Pikeville will face Martin County on Friday night.
