Investigation underway after body found in Pike County

VARNEY, Ky. — State police are asking for the public’s help in a death investigation, after a body was found in Pike County.

Police received a report Tuesday morning about a body that had been located on a mining road at Varney. When officers got to the scene, they discovered the body of Palmer Ray, 74, of Varney, inside his vehicle.

Ray’s body has been sent to the state medical examiner’s office for autopsy. The cause of death is under investigation.
