K-9 finds 142-grams of meth during traffic stop

PRATER CREEK, KY.- As the meth problem continues to increase in our area so does the frequency and size of meth busts.

That was the case when Deputy Szymchack with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department, along with the Martin Police Department, seized nearly 150 grams of meth after making as traffic stop. Deputy Szymchack says he witnessed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed jump a set of railroad tracks on KY 1426 at the mouth of Prater Creek. He says when he approached the vehicle he could smell a strong odor of marijuana and that’s when he put his K-9 partner, Drago, to work.

“Deputy Szymchack since he is the K-9 officer deployed the K-9 to do a search of the vehicle and the dog got a hit for narcotics. They found approximately 142-grams of meth, 1-gram of cocaine and 1-gram of marijuana. They also found in the vehicle several hundred plastic bags, they were empty, but they are used for transferring drugs from one   person to another.”

Charles Goodman of Eastern was arrested and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance. Tiffany Heidenescher of Ohio was also arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and reckless driving. They remain lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center.
