BEARVILLE, Ky. — A Knott County man was killed Thursday in a single-vehicle crash on Route 80.

According to Kentucky State Police, William T. Campbell was driving a Chevy Silverado east on the highway Thursday night, when he veered over the median, crossed both oncoming lanes and struck a rock embankment.

Campbell was taken to Hazard ARH, where he died of his injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt.

A passenger in his truck who was wearing a seat belt was treated for minor injuries at the scene.

Toxicology reports are pending, but police say they believe Campbell may have been under the influence at the time of the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
