Health officials announced Thursday afternoon the first COVID-19 related death in Perry County, Kentucky.
The Kentucky River District Health Department said in a statement that the patient passed away from complications linked to the novel coronavirus COVID-19.
The statement continues to say the patient is a 79-yr-old male from Perry County, Kentucky and was the district’s first confirmed positive COVID-19 case on March 31, 2020.
“We at the KRDHD extend our deepest sympathies to his loved ones during this time of loss,” says KRDHD Public Health Director, Scott Lockard. “As COVID-19 continues to spread in our area, we must all do what we can to keep each other safe.”
