PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pike County man was killed Friday afternoon in a crash on an exit ramp from U.S. 23.

According to Pikeville Police, Ernestine Franks, 66, of Whitesburg, was driving a Volkswagen SUV south on U.S. 23, when her vehicle veered across the highway, across a grassy area, and onto the exit road to U.S. 460, where it collided with a Toyota truck driven by Charles Jones, 75, of Rockhouse.

Jones’ truck was knocked off the road and over a guardrail, causing him to be ejected from the vehicle. He died at the scene.

Franks was taken to the hospital for treatment after the crash.

Pikeville Police is continuing to investigate the crash, but police do not believe alcohol or drugs were involved.
