
The Martin County Lady Cardinals are headed to the 15th Region Championship after rolling past Prestonsburg, 8-0, in semifinal action Monday night.
Freshman standout Jaz Jude led the offensive surge with four goals, bringing her season total to 16. She was backed by junior Faith Caldwell, who added two goals and four assists. Caldwell continues to pace the team offensively with 39 goals this year.
Annaleigh Davis and Madelyn Goble rounded out the scoring for the Lady Cardinals, while goalkeeper Brianna Muncy turned away three shots to preserve the shutout.
The victory improves Martin County to 15-1 on the season, with their only loss coming against Owensboro Catholic in the Kentucky All “A” Classic Statewide Soccer Tournament.
Prestonsburg closes out its season at 12-7-1.
Martin County now advances to face Johnson Central in the 15th Region Championship on Thursday (Oct. 16). The Golden Eagles enter the matchup with a 19-2 record.
