Pike County, KY — The death investigation continues into a fatal fire Friday in Pike County. Kentucky State Police at the Pikeville post say the call came in shortly before 4:00 AM of a structure fire in the Stone area of the county. Authorities located a body of a child inside the residence just before 5:30 AM. According to Mullins School officials, the child was 11-year-old Ayla Eastwood, a sixth grader. Her mother, Meredith remains hospitalized at Pikeville Medical Center with burns and smoke inhalation. Mullins School will have grief counselors available Monday for students. Police have not released what caused the fire at this time.
