LOUISA, Ky. — A Lawrence County man is in jail, after police say he intervened in an argument between a husband and wife by beating the woman and stabbing the man.

Lawrence County deputies were called to a home on Three D Road over a report of a stabbing.

When they arrived, a woman told them she was in an argument with her husband, when 25-year-old Philip Hart, of Louisa, began punching her in the face, then climbed on top of her and started choking her.

When the husband tried to stop the attack, Hart allegedly pulled a knife from his back pocket and stabbed the man several times.

The wife had a large knot on her head and cut on her chin, while the husband had stab wounds in his pelvis and thigh.

Hart was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, fourth-degree assault and first-degree strangulation.
