Defense Attorney Robert Wright cross-examines Christopher Puckett, who was allegedly stabbed by James Huffman IV on New Year’s Day 2014 in Whitesburg, Ky. Huffman is also accused of murdering Michael Hogg by stabbing him to death that same night.

Cross examination of prosecution witnesses continued Monday in the murder trial of James Huffman IV, who is accused of stabbing 24-year-old Michael Hogg to death on New Year’s Day 2014.

One of the other men allegedly stabbed by Huffman, Christopher Puckett, continued his testimony, which began Friday afternoon. Defense attorney Robert Wright grilled Puckett about his alleged role in the events that eventually led to Hogg’s death. Wright argued that video surveillance footage showed Huffman being shoved by a member of Hogg’s and Puckett’s party inside of Streetside Bar and Grill in Whitesburg during a confrontation about a bottle of whiskey allegedly stolen by Huffman.

The whiskey was owned by Hogg, and Wright questioned why Puckett was part of the confrontation if he seemingly had no stake in it. Puckett said he was confronting Huffman about an alleged incident between Huffman and two females who had also been a part of Hogg’s party.

Wright also pressed Puckett about why he asked Huffman to step outside of the bar. Puckett replied that he wanted to step out to have a cigarette.

Puckett was excused from the witness stand, but was informed he would be called back at a later time for further cross examination.

More witness testimony was givenMonday, and is expected to continue Tuesday.
