PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — There was a celebration on Saturday at Cliffside Apartments in Prestonsburg, recognizing the creative efforts of some of the children who live at the complex.

Ten children from Cliffside entered the Southeastern Affordable Housing Management Association’s annual drug-free poster contest. Out of those 10, three went on to take the top statewide prize for their age groups.

Shawn Dempsey and sisters Chloe and Carleigh Ousley received plaques and cash awards, and they were joined by all of the entrants in the contest for a party with pizza, cupcakes and more.

Organizers say the contest sends an important message.
