Magoffin principal charged with strangulation

SALYERSVILLE, Ky. — The principal of North Magoffin Elementary has been arrested after his wife reported that he strangled her during an argument.

Deputies were called to the home of James Keith Isaac, 44, of Salyersville, after his wife reported that she had been assaulted and she had locked herself in a room.

When they arrived, she told them that they had been arguing over feeding dogs in the basement. She said said was on a Facetime call with her girlfriend’s 3-year-old, when Isaac allegedly slapped the phone out of her hand, grabbed her around the neck and began choking her.

The police report notes that she had red marks visible on both sides of her neck.

She also told deputies that he then went after the cat, but she was unsure if he hurt it, and the police report noted that the cat seemed to be in good condition.

When he was interviewed by police, Isaac denied touching his wife, but said they had been involved in an argument that had been “brewing for a long time.”

Isaac was arrested and charged with fourth-degree assault and strangulation. The strangulation charge is a felony, punishable by 5-to-10 years in prison.
