MAYTOWN, Ky. — A Floyd County man has been arrested, after police say he tried to burn down his parents’ home.

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office was called to a Maytown home over a report that 35-year-old Chad Manuel was threatening to burn down his parents’ house.

When deputies arrived, they reportedly found Manuel pouring kerosene throughout the house. They accuse him of also slashing the tires on his parents’ vehicle and holding them at knifepoint until just before deputies arrived.

Manuel allegedly ignored commands to stop pouring kerosene, then got aggressive with officers when they tried to arrest him.

He is now charged with attempted arson, wanton endangerment, resisting arrest and other charges.
