GRETHEL, Ky. — Two juvenile girls were killed in a crash early Sunday morning.

Floyd County Coroner Greg Nelson confirmed the deaths but has not yet released the identities of the victims.

The crash happened on Route 680 near the mouth of Branham’s Creek, Nelson said.

Floyd County Schools released a statement from Supt. Anna Shepherd about the crash, indicating the girls were students at Prestonsburg High School. The district will have counselors available at PHS, Adams Middle School and Allen Elementary for students and others affected by the tragedy, beginning on Monday.
