PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pike County man who has been wanted by police since failing to show up for his arraignment on multiple drug trafficking charges 10 months ago has finally been caught.

Justin Tackett, 37, of Freeburn, was indicted last March for trafficking in meth, heroin and Neurontin and other charges. He was scheduled to be arraigned March 15, but he never appeared and was declared a fugitive.

Police came close to capturing him back the night of Nov. 16, when he allegedly fled from a traffic stop. Following a short chase, Tackett’s car got stuck in mud and he allegedly ran into the woods and police lost him due to the darkness.

Tackett was arrested Friday evening and is now being held in the Pike County Detention Center on charges of fleeing police and multiple traffic violations, in addition to the original charges on the indictment.
