PIKEVILLE, Ky. — While a Pikeville businessman seeks to have his conviction on federal health care fraud and wire fraud charges overturned, prosecutors are moving forward to recover money he was convicted of illegally obtaining.

Eugene Sisco III, 36, was convicted earlier this month, following a six-day trial. The jury found that Sisco ordered patients at his drug treatment centers to pay cash for services that were also billed to Medicaid, and that he required patients to undergo medically unnecessary urine tests that were also billed to Medicaid.

As a result, the government is asking a judge to force Sisco to forfeit $3.2 million, which is the amount prosecutors say he illegally obtained.

A judge will rule on the request after Sisco has a chance to respond.
