PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Mingo County man was arrested after police say he assaulted his daughter at a high school basketball game.

Robert Jerome Warren, 48, of Williamson, was at Pike County Central High School for the 60th District tournament Tuesday night, when police say the attack happened.

The arrest warrant says police have video of Warren dragging and pushing his daughter into a stairwell, then putting her in a corner in the stairwell and telling her not to move. The warrant goes on the say he then put his hand around her throat and choked her, then struck her in the face after letting go. After that, the warrant says the girl slumped to the ground, having a panic attack, when Warren grabbed her by the arm and dragged her down the stairs.

Warren is now charged with first-degree strangulation, fourth-degree assault and second-degree unlawful imprisonment. The strangulation charge is a felony, punishable by 5-to-10 years in prison.

He was arrested on Friday and later released after posting 10 percent of a $25,000 bond. A preliminary hearing in the case has been scheduled for March 14.
