
WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — A man who was declared a fugitive last year after being charged with heroin trafficking in three separate indictments in Pike County has been arrested.
Cordell “Gator” Smith, 56, of Williamson, W.Va., was arrested Friday by the Mingo County Sheriff’s Office.
A Pike County grand jury indicted Smith in June of 2023 in three cases, charging him with three counts of heroin trafficking. The indictments allege Smith sold the drug on three dates in August of 2022.
A warrant was issued for his arrested following his indictment, but officials were unable to serve it. He was declared a fugitive in July of 2023, when he failed to show for his arraignment.
He now being held in the Southwestern Regional Jail in Holden, W.Va., awaiting extradition to Kentucky.
