Man wanted in pair of thefts arrested in Pikeville

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A man wanted in a number of cases in Pike and Floyd counties was arrested on Thursday.

Jeremy James Petersen, 37, of Teaberry, is accused breaking into the Walters Mazda lot on Nov. 10th and taking a 2020 Toyota Camry. He is also accused of stealing a four-wheeler from the lot of Childers Auto and Truck Parts on Dec. 12.

It was that last incident which resulted in his arrest, after police spotted someone riding the stolen four-wheeler on Scott Avenue on Thursday. Police later found Petersen with the four-wheeler at a condemned home on Julius Avenue, and he allegedly admitted to stealing it in a recorded interview with police.

Petersen now faces charges of burglary, theft, auto theft, criminal mischief and trespassing in Pike County. He also faces charges of criminal mischief, receiving stolen property and fleeing police in Floyd County, but details of that case were not immediately available.

He is currently being held in the Pike County jail on a $10,000 cash bond.
