ENDICOTT, Ky. — A Floyd County man is in jail after police say he stabbed a woman Monday evening.
Police were called to a home on the Right Fork of Home Branch, where a 45-year-old woman had been stabbed multiple times. After the attack the assailant, who the victim identified as Eddie Dmitruk, 58, of Prestonsburg, ran away from the residence.
Police say the woman was stabbed twice in the chest, once in the elbow and once in the armpit.
After learning that Dmitruk had possibly fled to a nearby home on Route 194, police found him at that location.
While placing him under arrest, he was found with a knife in his back pocket.
Dmitruk has now been charged with first-degree assault, a felony punishable by 10-to-20 years in prison. He is being held on a $20,000 cash bond.
