MAJESTIC, Ky. — A Mingo County man who was wanted on warrants is facing even more trouble, after police found him with drugs and a gun when they went to arrest him.

Just before 3 a.m., Sunday, state troopers went to a field in Majestic, where they were informed they could find 42-year-old Tyrone Davis, of Williamson, working as part of a logging crew. They found Davis sitting in the driver’s seat of a log truck.

When officers asked him to step out of the vehicle, they spotted a handgun and a plastic bag of powder. The gun turned out to be a problem for Davis, as one of the warrants police had was for felon in possession of a firearm.

When asked about the powder, Davis reportedly said it was “a gram of ice,” but police said it appeared to be fentanyl instead. Davis then allegedly changed his story to say it was 4 or 5 grams of fentanyl, but police say it was closer to an ounce.

Officers also found scales and plastic bags in the truck, leading them to believe Davis was selling the drug.

He was charged with second offense fentanyl trafficking, felon in possession of a handgun and possession of drug paraphernalia, in addition to the original warrants.
