Minor traffic infraction turns to drug trafficking arrest

JACKSON, Ky. — A state trooper attempting to pull over a car for having a headlight out, ended up making an arrest for drug trafficking.

It happened early Friday morning on Route 3094, in Jackson. The officer reported when he attempted to pull the car over, it sped up, but then lost control, went off the road and got stuck in a ditch.

The driver then hopped out and ran away, but was later found inside another car behind a house. Jason Lewis, 38, of Lexington, was then arrested and charged with fleeing police.

When officers searched him, they reportedly found 10 grams of meth, along with bags, scales and other items.

He now also faces charges of first-degree drug trafficking and possession of drug paraphernalia.
