FRANKFORT, Ky. –The Kentucky Public Service Commission has granted, in part, a request by Kentucky Power to reconsider portions of a recent rate decision.
In an order issued April 9th, the commission agreed to reopen the case to gather more information on several key issues, including vegetation management costs, employee compensation, transmission expenses and rate case costs.
Regulators say the additional review does not mean they agree with the utility’s arguments, but will allow further investigation before making final decisions.
The commission also ruled that Kentucky Power may temporarily record certain vegetation management expenses as a regulatory asset while the case is reconsidered.
However, the PSC denied part of the request, ruling that costs associated with the Big Sandy power plant will not be included in a proposed generation rider.
The case will now move forward under a new procedural schedule, with additional filings and review expected in the coming months.
