Officials: No threat to Jenkins High School

A reported potential threat caused some concern and a brief investigation Tuesday at Jenkins High School, but officials found no threat against the school

Jenkins Police Chief Jim Stephens said the situation at Jenkins High School began as a result of a disagreement between two students. That disagreement, he said, was resolved peacefully, but it sparked rumors that a student planned to bring a gun to school and carry out a shooting.

School officials said they immediately began an investigation, and determined there was never any threat of violence against school.

Stephens told EKB News that a student approached school personnel and reported the rumor. He said that although students were never in any danger, that student did the right thing in reporting it, and it is always better to err on the side of caution when safety is of a concern.
