More than 6000 meals were delivered throughout the county by numerous churches and more than 500 dinners to people who came in to eat took meals to go at the Appalachian Wireless Arena on Thanksgiving. According to “One Church” member Debby Bailey, the sole purpose of the One Church Community Thanksgiving Dinner is to collectively show and share the love of Jesus Christ by working side by side as the Body for a common purpose and that is to serve others. Bailey says that Adam Akers doesn’t want credit, but without his vision and the hard-work of his church, she doesn’t think this dinner would have grown this large this quickly. They are already thinking they should plan for 10,000 meals next year and Bailey states, “It’s a rewarding feeling knowing that you helped make a difference for someone in need… that’s what One Church does – make a difference on Thanksgiving.”
