PIKEVILLE, Ky. – Recently, the Pike County Detention Center finished installing an extensive camera monitoring system. Pike County Jailer Brian Morris says the new system provides additional security for both inmates and the jail staff. With support from the Pike County Fiscal Court, Morris said the nearly 100 additional cameras in the facility did not cost the Pike County taxpayers any money, and was purchased with funds generated by the jail commissary. Morris says this system should help relieve fears that inmates families may have regarding inmate safety while incarcerated.
