PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pikeville man is in jail, after police said his house provided unsafe and unfit living conditions for his daughter.

Police were called to the Jay Street home of Anthony Conrad, 48, after the child’s grandmother reported her concerns that the 7-year-old girl was being neglected and asked police to check on her.

Police say when they went to the residence, they found the floors smeared with garbage and dog droppings and a very foul odor coming from inside. They also found two steak knives left in the floor.

Police also reported that Conrad and the little girl were wearing very dirty clothes and showed poor hygiene.

They also found a rifle and handgun in the home, despite Conrad being previously convicted of a felony.

He was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a minor and felon in possession of a firearm.
